Our Michigan Sailing Charter
Scrimshaw is a 1986 Hunter
Legend 45 sloop with two complete state rooms including
head and shower and full beds.
Scrimshaw has been to all the major
ports of Lake Huron and last year completed a circumnavigation
of Lake Huron proving her sea worthiness as a great
cruising boat as she is well equipped for sailing in
comfort.
With a full Galley, Hot and Cold
running water, stove, barbeque, Microwave, Freezer and
Ice box, a 110v generator and is powered by a 55 hp
Yanmar turbo charged diesel with a top speed under power
of 8 knots. Under sail we cruise at 5+ knots.
You will be met at the dock on the
Clinton River and motor out to Anchor Bay, then down
to Huron Point Light were we turn to port or starboard
depending on the wind.
This is where you take the helm and
if you need help you will receive some basic sailing
skills instruction from Capt. Dominick Principe, 100
ton Master license and ASA cert. instructor.
You then have the option of just
sailing off to wonderful spots like Belle river, Grosse
Point or to Seaway Island for a swim.
Our goal is to give you a memorable
experience of sailing Lake St. Clair Michigan.
